Paul O'Brien - who graduated in November 2008 from the National Film School at IADT Dun Laoghaire - entered an online competition to make a film for the acoustic version of the Coldplay song, Lost.
The members of the chart toping band watched a shortlist of entries and came down in favour of Paul's claymotion and computer graphic work featuring the character, Seamus the Dog.
'Three minutes of heart warning brilliance,' is how Coldplay described the video. The winning video was shown at the recent Coldplay concerts at the O2 in London - where Paul was a VIP guest of the band.
'I'm a huge Coldplay fan! Almost to the point of being obsessive! But when I saw the details for the contest I thought I had to make the film. I thought the acoustic version of Lost was a great base to start an idea from and I pretty much had 101 ideas from the very start,' O'Brien said.
Paul studied Modelmaking at IADT for three years before taking his final year on the Animation degree programme.
